What's in a name?

A blank slate. Often overwhelming and intimidating. That is how I felt about starting this blog/diary. However, I decided that instead of trying to make it perfect, I'd best just delve in imperfectly. I created this account while listening to a children's cd. I had been trying to come up with a name for it forever it seemed. While the song "You Are My Sunshine" came on it "dawned" on me. Sunshine's view! There are several reasons why. First, Bryce, my husband, calls me Sunshine. Secondly, I LOVE the sun. My top priority when looking for a house always is about the amount of natural light that comes in. They say diamonds are a girl's best friend, but for me it's windows! Thirdly is the Christian reference that light is throughout God's Word. Light is never overcome by darkness but darkness is always overcome by light. My baptismal verse was "You are the light of the world...." This is how I try to live. I desire to be a light to others, shining God's love into their world. I am an encourager by nature, thanks to my Father's design. Light has a healing affect, allows for nature to grow and flourish, and brings hope. It often creates calmness and peace...think of the light of a candle or campfire. With little ones, I can't help think about how light chases away the scary things of life. Finally, the idea of sun having a standpoint intrigues me. Often, we see life from the underside of the tapestry. It's all crazy, threads going this way and that. The sun is above looking down on us. Similar to our Heavenly Father, it can see us in totality. God, who is outside of time, can see events from any perspective. I sort of liken the sun to this even though I recognize its limitations. The sun is not outside time, not a being who loves emphatically, but simply a creation of the Creator. But for the purposes of this blog, I will express their similarities in outlooks as one in the same. The sun was the first thing God created, has been around for a long time, and will outlast us all. It's "above the world" perspective puts us in our place. Not exactly like, but similar to God's. So, I will strive to live my life as a light in this world. Encouraging, igniting, bringing life. I will strive to see the world in a sunny fashion. The glass half full, looking for the greater meaning from a whole picture, above the world looking down sort of way. I will express my views as best as I can as I see it with these goals, the bigger picture, God's will. His perfect, good, and loving plan for our lives.
